West 'Taxmageddon' Ad Targets Dem Challenger

Friday, 27 April 2012 11:21 AM EDT

Rep. Allen West, R-Fla., is using taxes to target Democratic opponent Patrick Murphy. West’s campaign has put together a movie-style poster with the word “Taxmageddon” emblazoned across the middle and photos of Murphy, President Barack Obama, and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, The Huffington Post reported.

"President Obama and the big spenders in Congress are planning ‘Taxmageddon’ on Jan. 1, 2013 — after they’ve had to face the voters of course," West posted on his Facebook page. "This plan will hurt the middle class, students, retirees, and investors and slow already anemic economic growth."

Murphy is vice president of Coastal Environmental Services and has worked as a CPA. He had originally planned to challenge West in Florida’s congressional district 22 but when West moved to newly drawn district 18, Murphy followed.
