By    |   Thursday, 19 October 2017 07:05 AM EDT

President Donald Trump left some room for doubt early Thursday as he tweeted that "Republicans are going for the big Budget approval today, first step toward massive tax cuts."

"I think we have the votes, but who knows?" he added.

The Senate could vote on a 2018 budget as early as Thursday, with the House potentially taking action next week. Budget approval would clear the way for a tax reform bill that cthe Senate could approve with a simple majority vote.
