Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, referred to the feud between Republican Sens. Bob Corker, Jeff Flake and President Donald Trump as a “sideshow” and said everyone should just, “shut up and do your job.”
“It’s like you’re back in junior high,” Cruz said during a wide-ranging interview on “The Mark Davis Show” where he discussed tax reform, healthcare and tensions with North Korea.
Flake, of Arizona, on Tuesday delivered a shocking speech on the Senate floor where he blasted Republicans and Trump, saying his party was abandoning "core principles" in favor of "anger and resentment." He announced he would not run in 2018 because it was clear there wasn't room for "a traditional conservative."
Corker, of Tennessee, in late September said he wouldn't seek re-election as he had always been drawn to the idea of a "citizen legislature."
The two lawmakers have both been critical of Trump in the last month, and Trump has hit back with insults and attacks. Corker on Tuesday told CNN: "the debasement of our nation will be what [Trump will] be remembered most for."
Cruz said he is tired of all the nonsense.
“Every day walking down the hall of the Capitol, there is a swarm of reporters, like locusts they descend on you,” said Cruz. “And they want a comment on, so and so said this, so and so said this. … We’ve got a job to do, damn it. And so, all of this nonsense, I have nothing to say on it. Everyone shut up and do your job is my view.”
