Ohio: 51% Have Favorable Opinion of Paul Ryan

Reaction to Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s choice of Rep. Paul Ryan as his running mate is playing well in the crucial swing state Ohio, according to a new Rasmussen poll.

In the poll, 51 percent of likely Ohio voters have a favorable opinion of the vice presidential pick and 39 percent have an unfavorable view. Also, 40 percent of those polled say they are now more likely to vote for Romney to 32 percent who say they are less likely to do so.

Also telling are the numbers among unaffiliated voters, which show that 42 percent are now more likely to vote for Romney, to 18 percent being less likely.

Rasmussen polling shows that Ryan is seen as politically conservative by 78 percent of Ohio voters, suggesting that voters see him as further to the right than Romney.

Overall, 49 percent of likely voters in Ohio believe Romney made the right choice in picking the Wisconsin congressman as his running mate, and 22 percent disagree.
