About 25 Republican bundlers have committed themselves to helping presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney since his former rival Rick Santorum exited the race Tuesday, a top Romney source told The Daily. And several more have indicated they will follow suit.

Many of the top GOP bundlers stayed on the sidelines during the long and heated primary race. But now that Romney seems to have the race sewn up, they’re coalescing behind him so that he can fight President Barack Obama with guns a blazing.

"These people are team players," Austin Barbour, a leading Romney fundraiser, told The Daily. "They see we've got to beat Barack Obama, so they're getting on board."

Another top Romney fundraiser told The Daily, "There is now no excuse to sit on the sidelines. There is no alternative, and there is no uncertainty as to who the nominee will be."

The Romney campaign also has just created a joint fundraising account with the Republican National Committee (RNC). Proceeds from that account will be split between the RNC, the campaign and various state parties.

Donors can give more to the joint "Romney Victory" committee — $75,000 — than they can to just the Romney campaign alone — $2,500 for the primaries and $2,500 for the general election.
