Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney has selected Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers of Washington as his liaison to the House.

“She understands the impact of the economic challenges Americans face and the need to put our country on a better track," Romney said in a statement, The Hill reports. "As a member of the leadership team in the House, she will be a helpful partner in our efforts to ensure our focus remains on the critical issue of economic security for all Americans.”

McMorris Rodgers teams with Missouri Sen. Roy Blunt, Romney's Senate coordinator, to organize both houses of Congress in support of the former Massachusetts governor.

She will make sure that House members’ concerns are “getting to the Romney campaign,” and that messages from the Romney campaign get through to the House, a source close to McMorris Rodgers told The Hill. She will organize meetings between House members and policy experts from the Romney campaign.

The congresswoman is the highest-ranking Republican woman in the House as vice chairwoman of the House Republican Conference. In that role, she oversees messaging, policy, and logistics for the 242-member GOP conference.

McMorris Rodgers endorsed Romney in early December, well before the primaries started. And she has worked as a prominent surrogate for him, defending Romney against attacks over women’s issues and his work at Bain Capital.

She is scheduled to hold a fundraiser with Romney Monday in Washington State that could generate more than $4 million, an aide to McMorris Rodgers told The Hill.
