Russia special counsel Robert Mueller's team will be interviewing current and former White House staffers possibly as early as this week in its probe on last year's election, CNN reported Tuesday.

The cable network cited "two sources familiar with the matter."

Details are being worked out, CNN reported, but The Washington Post disclosed earlier this month that Mueller was seeking to question six current and former Trump administration members.

The current White House members include communications director Hope Hicks; counsel Don McGahn; one of his deputies, James Burnham; and Josh Raffel, a White House spokesman who works closely with President Donald Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner.

The former aides of interest to Mueller include Chief of Staff Reince Priebus, and Sean Spicer, who was one of Hicks' predecessors.

Mueller's office declined to comment for the CNN report.
