Citing "important things I want to work on in Michigan," Gov. Rick Snyder decided against endorsing Donald Trump for president, the
Detroit News reports.
In a meeting with the newspaper's editorial board, Snyder said: "I've stayed out of the whole thing, and I'm going to continue to."
It's the second time Snyder has passed on endorsing Trump; the governor wasn't forthcoming with one during Michigan's March 8 primary either. Flint's water crisis, the governor said then, was all-consuming.
Snyder has also said he'll pass on attending the GOP convention in Cleveland, citing "more important things to do at home."
Now, Snyder said his focus is on helping Republicans keep the majority in the Michigan House of Representatives.
"When I look at the upcoming election in November, my biggest issue is hopefully re-electing the House, because I think that's important," Snyder told the Detroit News. "We've had a great partnership there, and I think it'd be great to continue that."
Trump at least has the support of Michigan Lt. Gov. Brian Calley, who threw his endorsement behind Trump back in May … after endorsing Ohio Gov. John Kasich in the primary,
