In a new television ad for Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, who faces a recall election next Tuesday, Michael Reagan, son of former President Ronald Reagan, compares the Wisconsin Republican to his father, telling voters that “We need leaders like Scott Walker,” and urging them to “Win this one for the Gipper.”

Former President Reagan remains a revered figure among Republicans and many independents, and Walker, who faces Wisconsin voters a week from today, is hoping that an invocation of Reagan’s legacy will energize his base in anticipation of the recall election.

Story continues below video.

In the ad, Michael Reagan praises the Wisconsin Republican as “a reminder of somebody named Reagan from a long time ago,” saying, “Scott Walker, because of what he’s doing, has turned a negative into a positive, bringing businesses back into Wisconsin [and] getting people back into Wisconsin.”

The ad, which was paid for by the Campaign to Defeat Barack Obama, is the most recent example of the money and attention invested by national conservative groups in the Wisconsin recall.

Walker will face Democratic Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett in the June 5 election.
