NBC/Gallup: Trump Approval Losing Steam in South, Rust Belt

NBC/Gallup: Trump Approval Losing Steam in South, Rust Belt
NBC's "Meet the Press"

President Donald Trump's administration might become a victim of its own doing for 2020, as he is losing ground in Southern states and states in the Rust Belt's "blue wall," according to the Data Download from Gallup polling on NBC's "Meet the Press" on Sunday.

Trump's approval is "underwater" —more adults disapproving than approving —in 31 of 50 states, according to the report on Gallup's state polling. Just 17 states reportedly have approval ratings higher than 50 percent in those daily tracking polls from Jan. 20th's inauguration through June 30.

Most disconcerting for Republicans for 2020 is Trump's approval in Texas, Arizona, and Georgia which are "at least 7 points underwater and his job disapproval number is at 50 percent or more." In three "blue wall" states —Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin —"Trump is underwater by 9 or more points" and "is at 52 percent job disapproval in all of them," according to Gallup.

It should be noted, however —as President Trump has decried the bias and inaccuracy of polls and potential "illegal voters" since early in his campaign —Gallup numbers were a result of polling "adults" and not likely or even registered "voters."
