Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan, chairman of the House Budget Committee, will head the Republican National Committee’s fundraising effort against President Barack Obama. Ryan, who is seen as a rising star in the party, was named by RNC Chairman Reince Priebus to chair the committee’s Presidential Trust, The Hill reports.

“Paul is a visionary leader for our party, and it is fitting that he plays a crucial role in the upcoming election where our nation’s future hangs in the balance," Priebus said in a statement announcing the appointment.

Ryan said Friday that Republicans need a strong effort to mobilize the party’s voters.
