Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul, who still hasn’t offered support to presumptive nominee Mitt Romney, will hold a big rally with his supporters in Tampa, Fla., ahead of the party’s convention there Aug. 27-30.
The rally was announced in an e-mail sent to Paul backers and obtained by Politico. It reads, “2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul will hold a major rally with thousands of supporters ahead of the Republican National Convention in Tampa,
Politico reports.
“The event will take place at noon on Sunday, Aug. 26 at the University of South Florida’s 11,000-seat Sun Dome. Yesterday [Wednesday] the Ron Paul campaign signed a contract to secure the venue with the approval of the Republican National Committee.”
Paul faces the challenge of inspiring his supporters without inciting them to misbehavior. And the GOP faces the challenge of giving Paul room to state his views but not distract from Romney.
