A small business lobbying group has been criticized in the media and by Democrats for opposing Obamacare.

According to The Wall Street Journal, mainstream news outlets have published stories accusing the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) of betrayal to 300,000 members because the group has joined 26 states in opposing the Affordable Care Act.

In fact, the Democratic chairmen of the House Progressive Caucus, Raul Grijalva of Arizona and Keith Ellison of Minnesota, have accused the group of acting against “the best interest of small business owners,” The Journal reports.

However, NFIB yearly member surveys since 1986 show that controlling health care costs is their top priority, and recent polls indicate that 65 percent believe Obamacare will not do that. In addition, 77 percent say the law will bring a higher tax burden.

These are among the reasons NFIB joined the states in the lawsuit.
