There is a chance that Democrat Janet Napolitano, secretary of Homeland Security, will run for the Arizona Senate seat being vacated by Republican Jon Kyl next year.

And Republican politicos are getting ready, asking for a raft of documents from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that could be used against her in a race, The Hill reports.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to DHS Tuesday, formally asking for personal correspondence that may have taken place between Napolitano and Democratic political officials since Obama took office.

In a letter from the NRSC's chief counsel Sean Cairncross, the committee requests any correspondence between Napolitano and Obama adviser David Plouffe, the Arizona Democratic Party and all three national Democratic campaign committees during the past two years.
