Republican Mike Rounds Wins S.D. Senate Seat

CNN reported that Republican former Gov. Mike Rounds has won South Dakota's U.S. Senate seat left vacant by retiring Democratic Sen. Tim Johnson.

Rounds staved off a challenge from independent former Sen. Larry Pressler and Democratic hopeful Rick Weiland.

Weiland made headlines last month when he accused the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee of sabotaging his election by airing ads that "help Larry Pressler, not the candidate of the party you are supposed to be campaigning for," according to Business Insider. Pressler was running as an Independent.
