While acknowledging that Republicans have a lot of work to do to regain control of the Senate, Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is making plans for the GOP agenda should it succeed. Overturning the 2010 healthcare law would, of course, be a vital part of that agenda, Politico reports.

McConnell even gave a speech on the Senate floor this week outlining how he would act as Senate majority leader. “We are certainly not measuring the drapes, and we don’t know what the outcome is going to be in the fall,” McConnell told Politico. “But I think that there are many people who want to know what changing the majority will mean.”

Repeal of Obamacare will be a key issue in this year’s elections, he said. “It’s the one issue that you can absolutely predict will be there this fall,” McConnell said. “People talk about gas prices, we don’t know whether they’ll be high in the fall. People talk about what’s the economy going to be like in the fall?”

McConnell is working to make sure Republicans in Washington, D.C., are on the same page during the elections. He appointed Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., to form a common campaign agenda with House Republicans and the eventual GOP presidential nominee.
