Polls show Sen. Claire McCaskill of Missouri trailing each of her Republican opponents and only 37 percent of voters viewing her favorably, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

The first-term Democrat, in a survey conducted for two Missouri news outlets, trails businessman John Brunner, 52 to 41 percent; trails former state treasurer Sarah Steelman 49 to 41 percent; and trails Rep. Todd Akin, 49 to 44 percent, the Post-Dispatch reported.

“A lot of people are going to hold her accountable for her close ties to the president," pollster J. Brad Coker of Mason-Dixon Polling & Research Inc. of Washington, which conducted the poll, told the Post-Dispatch. The poll shows President Barack Obama trailing Mitt Romney by a 51 percent to 42 percent
margin and Obama with an anemic 34 percent favorability rating in the state.

On Obamacare and stimulus spending, McCaskill is “sort of joined at the hip with him," Coker told the paper. Coker said that since the Missouri electorate is moving rightward, "She's swimming upstream, and the current's getting stronger."

McCaskill scores just 40 percent among independents against Akin, and in the mid-30s when she's matched up with Brunner and Steelman, the National Journal reported.

Adding to her woes, just 37 percent of Missouri voters have a favorable impression of her while 44 percent see her unfavorably, the paper reported.
