Radio talk show king Rush Limbaugh says the Supreme Court has turned itself into a death panel with its decision to uphold the healthcare reform law.
“Our freedom of choice just met its death panel: the Supreme Court of the United States,” he said on the air after the court issued its ruling, Politico reports.
The term “death panel” came from former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who cautioned that Obamacare would create a death panel of government officials with the authority to determine who lives and who dies.
As for Limbaugh, “‘Obamacare’ is nothing more than the largest tax increase in the history of the world,” he said. The Supreme Court ruled that the law’s mandate for individuals to buy insurance is justified on the basis that it’s a tax.
“The people who were characterizing it as such [a tax] were right and were telling the truth,” while Obama was a liar for denying that his healthcare reform plan represented a tax increase, Limbaugh said. “We have the biggest tax increase in the history of the world right in the middle of one of this country’s worst recessions.”
Obamacare itself is a lie, Limbaugh said. “What has been upheld here is fraud, and the Internal Revenue Service has just become Barack Obama’s domestic army. We were deceived. It was a stealth tax on all Americans, and nobody knew it until today, not officially.”
