Poll: Independents Think Government is ‘Broken’

A new Blue Dog Research Forum/Zogby International poll shows that 77 percent of independents believe that “the American Government is broken.” Another 62 percent see the country headed in the wrong direction, Roll Call reports.

That’s good news for Republicans, with Democrats in control of Congress and many state houses. While both President Obama and congressional Democrats fared poorly in the poll, Obama performed better. His approval rating is 36 percent, compared to 13 percent for Democrats.

The issues of most concern to the respondents are job creation, the budget deficit, government debt and energy independence.
