Voters ages 18 to 29, often called millennials, are not fans of presidential candidate Donald Trump, according to
Harvard poll results.
In the poll of 3,183 voters, ages 18 to 29:
- 61 percent would prefer that Hillary Clinton be elected president.
- 25 percent would prefer Donald Trump win the presidency.
Young Republicans appear not to be as fond of Trump as young Democrats are of Clinton, who favor Clinton at 83 percent. Among young Republicans in the poll:
- 57 percent want Trump to win the White House.
- 13 percent want Hillary Clinton to be president.
Millennials who took the poll prefer that a Democrat win the presidency instead of a Republican.
- 61 percent of millennials in the poll want a Democrat to win.
- 33 percent want a Republican to win.
That 28-point difference was smaller in Harvard’s 2015 poll. Back then, fewer wanted a Democrat to win the White House (55 percent) and more wanted a Republican to win (40 percent.)
Trump has some supporters among young voters, according to
Politico.
Voter Anthony Rodriguez, 28, said he supports Trump because of the "emotion" of his message. "He’s able to cut across the ideological spectrum," Rodriguez told Politico.
