Everett Wilkinson, Chairman of the South Florida tea party, tells the Tea Party Insider that Rick Perry is a very exciting candidate for the 2012 presidential election.

“I see a lot of support for Rick Perry,” Wilkinson told the Tea Party Insider. “During a recent meeting of one of our tea party groups he polled very strongly and won the poll. He’s a very exciting candidate.”

Some believe Texas Governor Rick Perry is preparing for a late entrance to the GOP field. Perry bills himself as a strong social conservative and defender of Constitutional rights. He has publicly supported the Defense of Marriage Act and consistently advocated each citizen’s “fundamental right” to keep and bear arms.

Everett Wilkinson, chairman of the South Florida Tea Party and coordinator for the Florida State Tea Party Patriots, contends that Gov. Rick Perry of Texas could be an "exciting candidate" for the Republican presidential nomination. On the other hand, candidate Mitt Romney hasn't reached out to the tea party, Wilkinson says in this exclusive Tea Party Insider video. “We need to stop focusing on elections and actually have politicians do their jobs,” Wilkinson explained. The poor performance of Congress and the President during debt negotiations has only solidified the tea party’s anti-politician criteria for a 2012 presidential candidate.

“A lot of people are upset with politicians in general,” Wilikson told TPI. “We saw a lot of excitement with Donald Trump, even Huckabee, who is not really a politician right now, (and) Jack Welsh, a businessman.”

“People are upset with the current list of politicians,” Wilkinson emphasized. “They want to see somebody get something done in D.C. rather than be a politician looking to get elected to an office.”
