Talk about political shenanigans. House Democrats upset with the nerve of voters for putting them in the minority may vote against raising the debt ceiling to make Republicans vote in favor of lifting the limit, The Hill reports.

Democrats, debt limit, minority, vote, Frank“Democrats relegated to minority status in the House say Republicans are now the ones responsible for raising the federal debt ceiling,” the news service states.

“It is up to the majority to get this bill through; they can’t duck the responsibility,” Financial Service Committee ranking member Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., tells The Hill. “I reject any attempt to shift the responsibility to the minority. Don’t do us any favors.”

If Congress fails to raise the $14.3 billion debt limit this spring, the federal government will default on its debt, likely sparking a meltdown in global financial markets.
