Cybersecurity Firm CEO Resigns After Threatening to Kill Trump

The CEO of a cybersecurity firm stepped down this week after he threatened to kill President-elect Donald Trump.

Matthew Harrigan, now the former president and CEO of PacketSled, posted this message on Facebook after Trump's victory in the presidential election week, according to screenshots posted on Reddit: "I'm going to kill the president. Elect." (Note: Link contains strong language.)

Harrigan also appeared to taunt the Secret Service in other comments he made on the social media network.

On Tuesday, PacketSled announced Harrigan had resigned. 

"The PacketSled Board of Directors accepted the resignation of President and CEO Matthew Harrigan, effective immediately," the company wrote in a statement. "Fred Wilmot, the company's Chief Technology Officer, will serve as interim CEO while the Board of Directors conducts a search for a permanent replacement.

"We want to be very clear, PacketSled does not condone the comments made by Mr. Harrigan, which do not reflect the views or opinions of the company, its employees, investors or partners."

Harrigan posted a series of tweets on Sunday to apologize for his comments:
