Republican president candidate Herman Cain is the man to beat, according to a the latest IBOPE Zogby interactive poll.

The poll has the former Godfather’s Pizza CEO and author enjoying a 20-point lead over the rest of the Republican field. If the election were held today, the poll says Cain would be the only GOP candidate capable of defeating President Obama.

Other recent polls tell a different story. ABC places Former Mass. Gov.  Mitt Romney ahead of Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Cain, while CBS puts Romney in a dead heat with Cain.

Romney is holding at 22 percent, followed by Cain and Perry in the latest Quinnipiac poll. The other candidates are in single digits.

According to the Zogby poll, Cain has surged ahead 10 percentage points since Sept. 26 and is now at 38 percent. Romney is in second at 18 percent followed by Perry and U.S. Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas at 12 percent.

Zogby also inquired about the individual matchups between the GOP candidates and Obama. Cain came out 2 points ahead of the president, while Romney was down one point and Perry down five.
