Retired businessman Herman Cain may be gone from the Republican presidential race, but he doesn’t want to be forgotten. The former Godfather’s Pizza CEO is campaigning for several Republican congressional aspirants who support his “9-9-9” tax plan, Politico reports.

This week, Cain will appear with Michigan Senate candidate Pete Hoekstra on a four-stop tour and at a job creation event with Samuel Wurzelbacher, whom you probably know as “Joe the Plumber” and who is running for a House seat in Ohio.

Cain’s effort resembles that of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin in the 2010 elections, when she went all out to boost conservative candidates she called “Mama Grizzlies.”

As for Cain, “My sense is that he really wants to continue his message. Despite the fact that he’s no longer in the presidential race, he really wants to continue talking about issues,” Florida Republican senatorial candidate Craig Miller told Politico. Cain is backing Miller’s bid.

“He’s trying to influence the debate,” Miller said. “He’s endorsing candidates like myself, who are like-minded and who have a similar philosophy.”

Martha Zoller is a conservative talk radio host who is running for Congress in Georgia with the help of Cain. “I’m happy to have Herman’s support. He brings with it grassroots support that a candidacy like mine needs,” she told Politico.
