A new poll by Rasmussen Reports shows Rep. Tammy Baldwin, D-Wis., now with a slight lead over former Republican Gov. Tommy Thompson in the race for Wisconsin’s open senate seat.

The poll of likely voters shows Baldwin with the support of 49 percent and Thompson with 46 percent.

Thompson had been running ahead with a 6-point lead in the Real Clear Politics polling average. However, a spate of polls in the last couple of days has shown Baldwin pulling ahead. The RCP average now has her up by 3.5 percent.

The Rasmussen poll surveyed 500 likely voters Sept. 17.
