The star of Minnesota Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann continues to rise. A new survey from Public Policy Polling shows she’s the leading choice of Republicans to face Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar in the 2012 election, Roll Call reports.

bachmann, minnesota, senate, pollBachmann has the backing of 36 percent of Republicans, according to the poll. That compares to 20 percent for outgoing Gov. Tim Pawlenty, who’s likely to run for president, and 14 percent for former Sen. Norm Coleman. No other potential candidate has double-digit support.

To be sure, the poll found that Klobuchar leads Bachmann 56 percent to 39 percent among voters as a whole. Pawlenty trails the incumbent senator by 10 points, while Coleman trails her by 14 points.
