Actor Will Smith: Woman-Slamming Trump 'Makes Me Teary'

Will Smith probably won't be voting for Donald Trump. The star of the upcoming movie "Suicide Squad" spoke to news.com.au, an Australian news site, and trashed the Republican nominee.

"For a man to be able to publicly refer to a woman as a fat pig, that makes me teary. And for people to applaud, that is absolutely f—ing insanity to me," Smith said in the report published Tuesday. "My grandmother would have smacked my teeth out of my head if I had referred to a woman as a fat pig. And I cannot understand how people can clap for that. It's absolutely collective insanity."

The actor then said, "if one of my sons said that in a public place, they couldn't even live in my house anymore."

In 2006, Trump called TV personality Rosie O'Donnell a "big, fat pig" during an interview with Fox News. He was responding to her calling him a "pimp" on her blog.

Smith attributes the New York billionaire's political success to fear, which he calls "the greatest human motivator," saying that "there is this really separatist non-inclusive xenophobic, racist wave that is sweeping the globe that is making us pull apart farther than putting us together."

As for what he looks for in a president, Smith says, "they have to be level-headed, they have to be calm, because when people get scared, they lose their morality and that reptile mind takes over. It's the type of thing that you see in all forms of nature, but our leaders can't be that."

Trump recently came under fire for his comments on the parents of Army Capt. Hamayun Khan, who died in Iraq, after his father, Khizr Khan, spoke at the Democratic National Convention and derided Trump as ignorant of the U.S. Constitution.

Despite his distaste for the GOP candidate, Smith is optimistic about his country.

"I have faith in America. America has had really critical times but the good (people) tend to make their way to the top."
