Republican Senate candidate Gabriel Gomez is on his own — at least for now.

National Republican allies and GOP donors outside Democratic-leaning Massachusetts remain skeptical of Gomez' chances in the state's June 25 special election to replace former Sen. John Kerry.

Gomez, a businessman and former Navy SEAL, emerged from obscurity to win last week's low-turnout Republican primary. But so far, outside GOP money and manpower hasn't been flowing to his campaign.

Several top donors say they know virtually nothing about Gomez. The GOP's Senate campaign committee hasn't decided whether to invest significant resources until it's clear the race is winnable. And the tea party's national network of small-dollar donors has shied away from the socially moderate Gomez.
