DENVER (AP) — Colorado gubernatorial GOP candidate Dan Maes and American Constitution candidate Tom Tancredo came out swinging at each other in their next-to-last debate.

In one of their sharpest exchanges to date, Maes and Tancredo attacked each other over abortion and illegal immigration during a live broadcast Friday night on KDVR-TV.

Democrat John Hickenlooper refused to criticize his opponents during the debate, saying he is content to contrast how he is different from them and that he believes attacks are counterproductive.

The last gubernatorial debate is Oct. 29 at KCNC-TV.
