AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Texas Gov. Rick Perry took a little time away from official state business this week to shoot a cameo for an upcoming independent film.

The Republican governor made the cameo Thursday for "Deep in the Heart."

The producers said the governor was so instrumental in bringing the film to Texas that they wrote him into the script.

The film is based on the life of Richard Wallrath, largest individual donor to Texas 4-H and the student agricultural group Texas FFA. Wallrath is also a personal friend of Perry's.

The movie, which should hit theaters next year, is not the governor's first feature film. He played himself in the 2005 Tommy Lee Jones film "Man of the House."
