Popular radio broadcaster Michael Savage believes one of Trump's top priorities should be purging the federal government of employees hired during President Barack Obama's two terms in office.
In an interview with Newsmax TV's Steve Malzberg to discuss his new book "Trump's War: His Battle to Save America," Savage argued that the President is being sabotaged from within.
"It's called firing Obama's appointees. He should fire 5,000 people, clean the agencies out and put in his own people," Savage told Malzberg. "There's great opposition to him from within the intelligence agencies."
Savage said his "Trump's War" lays out "a road map of why we went to the polls, why I fought so hard for over a year to have people go out and vote for [Trump]."
Savage was the first major radio host to endorse Trump's presidential bid. Trump has been a frequent guest on his show, carried on 300 stations across the nation.
"The debt is increasing, we have ground troops in Syria, [people are] frightened. They see no repeal of Obamacare," Savage said.
"Donald Trump is a patriot. He is a nationalist. He is trying to give the American who voted for him what they asked for … It's really our battle for America, isn't it?
"If we don't jump in and demand that the RINO's [Republicans in name only] do what we want them to do and go out there and make sure that they're thrown out of office, all is lost."
"Trump's War: His Battle for America," is to be released next week. Savage has already authored four New York Times bestsellers.
Savage also tells Newsmax TV that even if President Donald Trump can only fulfill a third of his campaign promises, he'll be way ahead of what Hillary Clinton would have achieved as the nation's 45th commander-in-chief.
"He's congenial, he's honest, he's authentic," Savage said.
"And the important thing to remember is this … let's say we only get 30 or 40 percent of his promises on the campaign trail. Let's say it's 30 percent. That's 130 percent more than we would've gotten with Hillary Clinton."
"Just think where we would be today, in March, if Hillary Clinton were president … Hillary clearly said she wanted to pass the so-called Fairness Doctrine. She would've put me out of business and you out of business. That's not happening under Donald Trump."
Savage charged that Clinton also had her eye on the Second Amendment, which guarantees Americans the right to bear arms.
"Guns would be seized under Hillary … That's not happening under Donald Trump, so we have to count our blessings," he said.
