Rep. Ron Paul, the oldest candidate vying for the GOP presidential nomination, has mounted a 46-state, campus-focused drive to lure young supporters. The 76-year-old Texan has employed such tools as Facebook and other social media in his campaign, The Washington Post reports.

The campus operation, with 18,000 workers on 350 campuses, itself can be described as unconventional. King told the Post that general instructions go out to the activists but the messaging operation is somewhat unfettered.

Paul’s numbers have been ticking up in Iowa and he has launched news ads attacking opponents for changing positions, according to the Post.
