Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney has cornered the market on billionaire donors. The contender for the Republican presidential nomination bests all comers when it comes to billionaires -- including President Barack Obama, The Washington Post reports.

An examination of donors and the Forbes magazine list of 412 American billionaires shows that Romney has the support of 42, followed by Obama with 30, Texas Gov. Rick Perry with 20, former Utah governor Jon Huntsman with 12, and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich with four.

While donors are limited to just $5,000 to a campaign, there are no limits on giving to super PACS.

“The only limit on the resources is the willingness of the donors to give,” Anthony Corrado, a professor of government at Colby College, told The Post. “It doesn’t take long to transfer $500,000 from one account to another.”

The richest donor supporting Romney is hedge-fund manager John Paulson. Paulson, who is worth about $16 billion, has given $1 million to the Restore Our Future super PAC set up by former Romney aides to support his presidential run.

Obama’s richest supporter is Len Blavatnik, an industrialist worth over $10 billion, according to The Post.
