Republican strategists aren’t the only ones expecting the party to regain control of both houses of Congress in November’s elections. A new poll from Politico shows regular folks feel the same way. While 42 percent of Americans expect Republicans to win the House, only 26 percent expect Democratic victory, and 32 percent don’t know.

Politico, poll, Democrats, RepublicansAs for the Senate, 37 percent see a Republican victory, 27 percent a Democratic victory and 36 percent don’t know.

To be sure, that’s a narrower margin than Washington elites foresee. These folks believe by a 54 percent to 28 percent margin that Republicans will win the House and by a 58-25 percent margin that the GOP will win the Senate.
