Opponents of President Barack Obama’s 2010 healthcare revamp label it, derisively, as Obamacare. But now Obama is trying to turn that term from a negative to a positive,
The Hill reports.
“They call it Obamacare?” the president said at a fundraising event in St. Louis Tuesday night. “I do care! You should care, too.”
Earlier in the day, Obama said in Dallas, “Folks go around saying Obamacare. That’s right — I care . . . That’s their main agenda? That’s your plank? Is it making sure 30 million people don’t have health insurance?”
Michigan Rep. John Conyers, the second-most-senior Democrat, has been trying to get Democrats to embrace the term for months. His effort has included distributing buttons that read “I [heart] Obamacare.”
