The National Republican Congressional Committee has shifted into overdrive as the election approaches. It launched new TV ads in 29 districts during the weekend, committing $8.25 million to the effort. That was the NRCC’s largest one-day spending total for these elections, with control of the Capitol hanging in the balance, Roll Call reports.

US Capitol, NRCC, election, millionsIt added $200,000 in support of Tim Walberg, who is running against freshman Democratic Rep. Mark Schauer in Michigan’s 7th District. That puts total NRCC spending for that race at $999,000, meaning that that contest is set to become the first for which either party has shelled out $1 million.

As of last weekend, the NRCC had spent more than $500,000 in each of 11 district races. The contests include Nevada’s 3rd District, where Republican Joe Heck faces Democratic Rep. Dina Titus, and Washington’s 3rd District, where Republican Jaime Herrera is running against Democrat Denny Heck for a vacant seat.
