Indiana Sen. Dick Lugar leads his Republican primary challenger by just 6 percentage points, according to two separate polls. The two were commissioned by two anti-Lugar groups, reports talkingpointsmemo.com.

A Global Strategy Group poll, commissioned by Rep. Joe Donnelly, the Democratic Senate candidate, shows Lugar with a 45-39 percentage point lead over state Treasurer Richard Mourdock among likely GOP primary voters. The poll was conducted from March 12-15.

Meanwhile, Politico reports that a Wenzel Strategies poll done March 14-16, by the conservative group Citizens United, arrived at the same numbers: Lugar, 45 percent, Mourdock, 39 percent, talkingpointsmemo.com reports.

The Republican primary is May 8.
