Paulsen and Gingrich will announce the endorsement formally Wednesday at the state Capitol in Des Moines, where New Hampshire House Speaker Bill O'Brien will join in endorsing Gingrich.
In the run-up to the Jan. 3 Iowa caucuses, Paulsen declared that Gingrich is “a consistent conservative who has led this effort before and, I believe, can lead it again.' "
“We need a president who is ready to lead and, more importantly, ready to release the energy of the American people and American spirit,” Paulsen said.
Iowa House Majority Leader Linda Upmeyer and Speaker Pro Tempore Jeff Kaufmann also have endorsed Gingrich.
