Illegal immigrants are seeking to garner votes for Democratic incumbent Sen. Patty Murray in her race against Republican challenger Dino Rossi in Washington.
The undocumented workers are knocking on doors in the Seattle area in an effort to convince naturalized citizens to vote for Murray and other Democrats, the
Tacoma News Tribune reports.
“Immigrants really do matter,” said Pramila Jayapal, head of OneAmerica Votes, an immigrant-right advocacy group. “If we can’t vote ourselves, we’re going to knock on doors, or get family members to vote.”
