Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee thumped Democratic U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, saying the Florida lawmaker should be ousted, according to The State Column.

“Florida needs a conservative United States senator,” Republican Huckabee said in an e-mail to supporters. “By his own actions, it is clear that Democrat Senator Bill Nelson has been in Washington, DC too long.

Huckabee, who now lives in Florida, is one of the front-runners for the Republican nomination for president in 2012.

“Senator Nelson like all of the Democrats up for re-election in 2012 is a large reason our nation is going bankrupt,” Huckabee's e-mail said.
