The U.S. House of Representatives is cancelling all votes scheduled for Monday and shifting them to Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m., the Washington Examiner reported Sunday.
The move was due to concerns about House members being unable to return to Washington, D.C., because of Hurricane Irma, which had made landfall in Florida on Sunday and was expected to travel up the west coast of the state before continuing into Georgia and Alabama on Monday.
The Senate has not yet cancelled a vote set for Monday at 5:30 p.m. which will follow a remembrance in the upper chamber for the anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, Senate Cloakroom posted on Twitter.
