House GOP Freshmen Flunk Sen. Reid on Spending

By    |   Wednesday, 30 March 2011 01:29 PM EDT

House GOP rookies are sending a letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid telling him to get his act together on spending. At least 30 freshmen have signed the letter, which urges Reid to pass a continuing budget resolution for the rest of the fiscal year that “makes reasonable, responsible spending cuts,” Politico reports.

Arkansas Rep. Rick Crawford, a former radio broadcaster, wrote the letter. “Mr. Reid, your record on spending in the Senate is one of failure,” it reads. “You have failed to pass a budget, failed to restrain spending, and failed to put our country on sound fiscal footing. We do not accept your failure as our own. The American people did not send us here to fail.”

The letter promises daily protest until the Senate complies. “Mr. Reid, we are letting you know that we will rally on the Senate steps every day until you pass a long-term Continuing Resolution.”
