Gillibrand Wins Clinton Senate Seat Outright After Appointment

Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand has held on to her U.S. Senate seat in New York, defeating Republican Joseph DioGuardi. Gillibrand had been appointed to fill the seat vacated when Hillary Clinton became secretary of State.

Also in New York, Charles Schumer is an easy winner over Republican challenger Jay Townsend, as expected.
