Many in Washington, D.C. respect the Congressional Budget Office for its nonpartisan research on fiscal issues. But Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, disagrees and wants to see the agency shuttered, The Hill reports.

gohmert, cbo, do, awayHe’s angry at the CBO, which began in the 1970s, for concluding that an extension of the Bush-era tax cuts would increase the federal deficit. “Despite the misinformation spewed on this floor, the fact is that when taxes have been cut, revenues go up — each time it's been done,” Gohmert said on the House floor.

“But we have such an ignorant way for CBO to operate, so for this political animal, and I know people say it's bipartisan — baloney. CBO is not bipartisan . . . We need bills scored by groups that can look at history and reality."
