While many Republicans no longer view front-runner Mitt Romney as a sure thing for their party’s presidential nomination, there is one GOP biggie who still has faith in him – the former Massachusetts governor himself.
“I think I’m going to be the nominee,” Romney said in an interview on “Fox and Friends” Friday,
The Hill reported. He said that if he does a “good job and people get behind me,” he will prevail.
“But there’s a long road ahead, and Newt Gingrich is obviously a feisty competitor,” Romney said. “We’ll have a contest that I’m sure will take us down the road a ways. But I hope I become the nominee, and I think I can post up well against the president.”
