Wealthy individuals and corporations are fueling Mitt Romney’s presidential run. Almost 60 companies and individuals gave $100,000 or more to a super PAC supporting the former Massachusetts governor,
The New York Times reported.
The Restore Our Future super PAC raised $18 million from just 200 donors in the second half of 2011. Romney’s former colleagues at Bain Capital, whose business practices have been called into question by Romney’s GOP opponents, gave $750,000 and executives from Goldman Sachs kicked in $385,000, the Times reported.
Three donors active in hedge funds contributed $1 million each. Other prominent contributors include members of the Walton family, founders of Walmart; Texas construction magnate Harlan Crow; and William Koch, brother of Charles and David Koch, according to the Times report.
