The Democrats can take back up to 45 seats in the House if they get their economic pitch right, says Stan Greenberg, Pres. Bill Clinton’s former political strategist and polling expert.

poll, democrats, economicsGreenberg, reports DailyCaller.com, is circulating his report “A Path to Democratic Ascendancy on the Economy,” based on a poll of 1,500 voters, among Democratic legislators. In it, he outlines the major economic issues on voters’ minds, which include concern over being taken advantage of by American companies and politicians, and offers talking points.

Greenberg wrote that the middle class is “smashed,” and that if “Democrats get it and embrace that reality as their mission, there is potential for immense dividends.”

He advises the Democrats to manipulate negative voter reaction to the Republicans’ support of Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan’s plan for Medicare reform, citing poll data that he says pushed voter support for the Republicans from 51 to 44 percent in one month. Ryan’s plan, said Greenberg, “is clearly out of sync with where people are…. It is damaging, and I think it will be more damaging.”

Greenberg said that while the Republicans focus on deficit reduction and budget cuts, the Democrats should look to the future, by discussing ways to increase jobs and strengthen the economy.
