CHICAGO (AP) — Rahm Emanuel's campaign says it has raised more than $10 million in his bid for Chicago mayor.

The campaign announced Thursday that $10.6 million was raised through Wednesday. Another $1.1 million was transferred from Emanuel's congressional campaign account. Emanuel was a Chicago congressman before he went to work as President Barack Obama's chief of staff.

Thursday was the deadline for campaign finance reports to be filed with the Illinois State Board of Elections. The reports cover fundraising through Dec. 31, 2010.

Emanuel's campaign said it would file its report but announced its numbers in advance.

One of Emanuel's opponents, former Chicago schools president Gery Chico, announced earlier this month that he had raised $2.5 million through the end of last year.
