Dick Van Dyke says CNN is guilty of "extreme bias" for allegedly cutting off an interview about his support for Bernie Sanders to air a story about an outburst by Donald Trump.
The 90-year-old sitcom legend took to his
Facebook page to complain:
"Last night, CNN International CNN gave me ten minutes live to talk about Bernie Sanders who has been scantily covered by them in favor of the Donald J. Trump circus. It was pre-empted completely to cover another outburst by Trump.
"This pandering to the scandal hungry public is a total lack of responsible journalism. I accuse CNN of extreme bias. This is the
only snippet available online of my ten minute interview."
But the segment appears to be intact and there's no visible evidence it was ended prematurely.
In two-minutes and 40 seconds that was devoted to Van Dyke, he said he was ready to support Hillary Clinton if Sanders doesn't win the nomination.
"Anything to keep Trump out of there. You know he's been a magnet to all of the racists and xenophobes in the country. I haven't been this scared since the Cuban Missile Crisis," Van Dyke said.
But the star of TV's "The Dick Van Dyke Show" and movies like "Mary Poppins" believes Sanders still has a chance to triumph at the Democratic convention.
"I think he's still got a chance, because he's nipping at her heels right now," Van Dyke said.
